I hate that I haven't had a chance to post anything lately, so I'm grabbing a free moment before making breakfast. I started my new editing position last Monday and it is taking up most (all) of my knitting time. I am carving out an hour or two each night to knit samples for the wonderful Laura or Bella knits. If you've never visited her site or blog you should.
So, between sample knitting and working, my own knitting is sitting and looking sadly at me. Abby's long tunic sweater is so cute (no pics yet)! The body is done pieced together. Just need to knit and place the sleeves. I hope that once I settle more into the routine I'll have the time. I have a sneaking feeling that very little me knitting is going to happen anytime soon though. Very sad. But I like that I am able to earn a (very) little money to help out around here. And I love that NEXT year, which is when I would have like to get the job, I'll be able to work when the kids are at school and still be here when they need me. Like for field trips or their other activities.
Well, my minute is over! Kids need breakfast. Hopefully I'll be able to post soon.
Oh, and GO RED SOX!

Blogstalking Week 5
Blogstalker 5 : Favorite Statue
In 1883, Cogswell, a San Francisco real estate tycoon, donated the fountain to the town in honor of his cousin William Cogswell, a local builder.
The Rockville city council was pleased to accept the donation, but once it got a look at the fountain, some townspeople had second thoughts, according to town historian S. Ardis Abbott.
Cogswell was not only a millionaire dentist, he was a temperance crusader and an eccentric philanthropist. He believed the availability of clean drinking water from public fountains would steer the common man away from the evils of "distilled liquors," so he pledged to erect a fountain for every 100 saloons across the country.
Like all of his fountains, the memorial he sent to Rockville was topped with a life-sized statue of himself holding a glass of water in one hand and a copy of the Temperance Pledge in the other. Unlike the seven fountains he had installed in San Francisco, the Rockville fountain is made of zinc, not bronze or granite,
The anti-alcohol message didn't go over well here, where residents had voted against the town "going dry."
"In the middle of the night one night, someone took down the statue and threw it into the lake," Abbott said.
The constabulary dragged the statue out of Shenipsit Lake and reinstated Dr. Cogswell atop the fountain, but soon he disappeared again. The good dentist's likeness did not reappear until 1908, when he was discovered leaning against a downtown building with a sign around his neck, "I've come back for old home week."
Ah....I love my town!!!
I immediately thought of this fountain which is in the small town park in front of my Town Hall.
It is the Cogswell Fountain. Mr Cogswell is holding two things: a glass of water and a temperance pledge. On the sign posted at the based it says:In 1883, Cogswell, a San Francisco real estate tycoon, donated the fountain to the town in honor of his cousin William Cogswell, a local builder.

Blogstalker week 4: Things I love and don't
After missing last week's blogstalker, I am back!! This one is cool. Three things you love and three things you don't.
The three things I love. That is easy peasy!! My wonderful hubby and 2 cute wee ones. Too easy, you say? Well, if I don't count them, it gets harder. So, here goes.
No pictures for those things I don't like. I REALLY have this thing about emptying the dishwasher. I don't know why, but I just can't stand it. I don't like a messy kitchen in the morning. Something about starting the day cleaning up from yesterday drives me INSANE. And I REALLY don't like smoke (like from cigars and cigarettes). Enough to make me sick. Can't wait to see what everyone says!

I love Cape Cod. This is Monomoy.
I love long walks in the woods. The kids and I go letterboxing which adds adventure to the walk. Great to keep them interested!
ETA: To those who wondered about letterboxing: LETTERBOXING is an intriguing pastime combining navigational skills and rubber stamp artistry in a charming "treasure hunt" style outdoor quest. A wide variety of adventures can be found to suit all ages and experience levels. It is great fun. Find out more here!

Dirty Water
Sorry for the long delay without a post. This is why:
Not to get to into the details, but that sink is right below our kitchen sink. Somewhere after that sink the line clogged and backed up into the basement sink. Kitchen sink worked fine. And we seldom go into the basement since the washer and dryer moved upstairs. So, we went to watch a movie down there on Sautrday to be confronted by THAT! And it isn't just water. That is the lovely part. The kitchen sink has a....(wait for it)....garbage disposal. So the water was full of chewed up yuck and lots of coffe grounds. EWWW. So, we had to go through and write down everything that was destroyed as well as take photos. And of course clean the stench out. It is almost ok now. Now we deal with the insurance. Three boxes of books (wah!), my husband's new projector screen, and some misc computer bits.
I have been knitting my sorrows away. I knit two sample hats. Very cute (of course I had to try them on!). I am also on the decrease rows of Wook's Cobblestone sweater. Hope to finish it over the weekend. Because on Monday, I start working. Like for money! I'll be working ~30 hours a week as a junior editor. So, all at home. All my hours. Just need to find 30 of them!! Yikes!!!!!!! But money is good, and there is a good chance I can advance to a higher position. The company is all from home which is great. So, much less knitting time at least until I get settled into a new routine. Wish me luck. No, wish me sanity!
